What is Loler?

Loler stands for the lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations 1998, which are the UK regulations designed to ensure that lifting equipment is used safely and maintained in good working condition. A Loler inspection , often referred to as a "thorough examination" is a systematic check conducted by a competent person to identify any defects or weakness in lifting equipment that could compromise safety.

How often do I need a Loler?

Loler inspections for lifting equipment (anything above the hook) must not exceed a period of 12 months

For loose tackle  (anything below the hook) must not exceed a period of 6 months.

The reason for this is to ensure any issues or defects can be picked up on as quickly as possible to reduce risk to personnel.
Loler is a requirement by law to keep your equipment and loose tackle running safely.
